Day 319: Summary of the Seventh Commandment

"You shall not steal" (Ex 20:15; Deut 5:19). "Neither thieves, nor the greedy, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Cor 6:10). CCC 2450

Today's reading from the Catechism consists solely of an In Brief summarizing what has been covered over the past few days on the Seventh Commandment. I don't really have anything else to add beyond what I've already said on this commandment.

The Catechism Companion Vol III has some good commentary:
The Seventh Commandment not only prohibits stealing someone else's possessions, but it also establishes that people can have possessions of their own. The resources of the world are meant to meet the needs of the world... Human beings have dignity. That may never be made slaves or treated like things to be purchased... How we live this life matters for eternity. (p. 154)
